DualShot Recorder App Launches, Enabling Simultaneous Vertical and Horizontal Video Capture

A new mobile application called DualShot Recorder has recently launched on the Apple App Store, developed by content creator Derrick Downey Jr. through his production company DDJR Productions. The app is designed specifically for iPhone users and allows for the simultaneous recording of video in both portrait (9:16) and landscape (16:9) aspect ratios with a single tap, generating two synchronized video files. This functionality addresses a common challenge for creators who need to produce content for multiple platforms that favor different orientations, such as TikTok and Instagram for vertical video and YouTube or broadcast for horizontal formats. The app quickly gained popularity, reaching the top position among paid apps on the App Store within 24 hours of its release. DualShot Recorder offers two primary recording modes: Dual-Lens Mode, which utilizes both rear cameras on supported iPhone models like the wide and ultra-wide lenses, and Single-Lens Mode, which allows recording both formats from a single camera, including the front-facing camera. Video can be captured in resolutions up to 4K with frame rates of 24, 30, or 60 frames per second, and files are saved in standard .MOV or .MP4 formats directly to the device's Photos library. Additional features include real-time storage estimates and manual control over the device's flashlight during filming. The app emphasizes a privacy-first approach, operating without data collection, analytics, advertising, or account requirements, with all processing and storage handled locally on the device. It is available for a one-time purchase of $6.99, with an Android version planned for future release.
