DOKLAB Navarra 2026 Selects 11 Documentary Projects from 14 Filmmakers
The fifth edition of DOKLAB Navarra, a training program for emerging documentary filmmakers, has announced the selection of 11 documentary projects involving 14 participants (8 women and 6 men) from Navarra, the Basque Country, Madrid, Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico. The immersive residency will take place from September 7 to 13, 2026, at the Palacio de Olza, located 15 kilometers from Pamplona. The creative director, Pablo Iraburu, noted that this year's selection was particularly challenging due to a record number of applications, surpassing previous editions. The chosen projects span diverse genres, including observational, self-referential, experimental, animation, and culinary cinema. DOKLAB aims to foster unique and intimate voices in documentary filmmaking, connecting them with a global audience. The program is financed by Generazinema Formación, supported by scholarships from Caja Rural de Navarra's Social Action, and has agreements with DocsMX and Encuentros de Colombia. The residency is promoted by the production company Arena Comunicación, known for works like "Pura vida," "Cholitas," and "Muros," and collaborates with Cines Golem, Oxfam Intermón, GuideDoc, Intangia, and Bodegas Ochoa. Additionally, DOKLAB has exchange agreements with DocsMX, DocsBarcelona, IDFAcademy, BAM (Bogotá Audiovisual Market), and the Encuentro de Productores de Colombia, positioning it as a hub connecting emerging Spanish-language documentary talent with the global market.
