DJ Gruff Brings 'O tutto o niente' to Florence Jazz Festival, Over 20 Years After Release

festival-fair · 2026-09-22

From September 5 to 13, 2026, DJ Gruff, whose real name is Sandro Orrù, took the stage at the Florence Jazz Festival, revisiting his solo album 'O tutto o niente' more than twenty years after its initial release. Accompanying him were horn player Gavino Murgia and vocalists Lauryyn and Beatrice Dellacasa. Born in Rome in 1968, Gruff has treated the turntable as an instrument of expression since the early 1980s. His musical exploration includes influences from both Italy and Japan, drawing from Italian songwriters as well as American funk, jazz, and soul. At the festival, he demonstrated his distinctive talent for making records communicate, while his work reinterprets rap and scratching techniques, reflecting the four elements of hip hop culture.
