Design Doha Biennial Rescheduled to November Due to Regional Conflict

The 2026 edition of the Design Doha biennial has been delayed from its original April opening to a November start date. Organized by Qatar Museums, this design event was initially scheduled to run from April 12 through June 30 but will now take place from November 5 to December 31. Organizers cited regional instability as the reason for postponement, specifically referencing ongoing military actions in the Gulf area. According to official statements, the decision was made after evaluating the security situation, which includes missile attacks affecting Qatar. Recent incidents include strikes on Qatari infrastructure and a fuel tanker off the coast. Multiple governments, including the United Kingdom, have issued travel advisories for Qatar. Despite the delay, Qatar Museums emphasized the event's continued importance in showcasing regional design talent and fostering creative dialogue across the MENASA area. The biennial aims to highlight designers from the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia during a period of heightened regional tensions.
