DC Open 2026: 50 Galleries Open Across Düsseldorf and Cologne

The DC Open art weekend, running from September 4-6, 2026, opens the autumn season in Düsseldorf and Cologne, Germany. Now in its 18th year, the event coordinates 50 private galleries alongside museums, foundations, and independent spaces. Among the participants is RizzutoGallery, an Italian gallery originally from Palermo, which opened its second location in Düsseldorf in 2024 at Ackerstraße 34 in the Flingern district. For DC Open, the gallery presents 'Two Artists, One Studio', transforming its space into an open studio shared by painters Mattia Barbieri and Metin Çelik, both born in 1985. Barbieri, Italian, born in Brescia and active between Milan and New York, works between painting and sculpture, layering forms and styles from religious icons to pop culture. Çelik, Turkish-born in Adana and based in Mönchengladbach, creates neo-surrealist canvases with theatrical, sinister nature scenes. The event simulates a real working day, with visitors allowed into the studio while the artists create new works in real time. The DC Open also highlights the region's art infrastructure, including the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, K20 and K21, Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, Ludwig Museum, and Skulpturenpark Köln.
