Daria Deflorian adapts Han Kang at Avignon Festival

At the Festival d'Avignon, Italian director Daria Deflorian presents a gripping adaptation of South Korean author Han Kang's 'Impossible Farewells' at the Cloître des Carmes. The production, titled 'Che dolore terribile è l'amore', delicately probes themes of horror and tenderness. Deflorian's staging transforms the intimate cloister space into a site of emotional intensity, drawing from Han Kang's novel which explores grief and historical trauma. The show runs during the 2026 edition of the festival, which continues through late July.
