Counterpublic Triennial Commissions Four Native Artists for 2026
The upcoming 2026 Counterpublic triennial in St. Louis, named 'Coyote Time,' is set to open on September 10 and will showcase four new commissions from Native artists, in collaboration with the Walker Youngbird Foundation. Curator Wanda Nanibush has invited Yatika Starr Fields, Rebecca Belmore, and Nicholas Galanin to explore locations along the Mississippi Riverfront, connected to the Gateway Arch. Additionally, Oglála Lakȟóta artist Kite, selected by curator Stefanie Hessler, will develop an installation based on insights from community workshops.
