Cosmos Platform Launches New Features for Artists with Short Film Promotion

Cosmos, a digital platform created by tech entrepreneur Andy McCune, has introduced new tools designed to support artists and creatives. The platform, which began in 2021 after McCune sold his previous company Unfold to Squarespace, functions as an alternative to Pinterest with features for building mood boards and finding visual inspiration. It publicly launched in summer 2024 and was recognized among Apple's top 25 apps of 2025. Key developments include systems that ensure proper artist attribution for images as they circulate on the platform, collaborative tools for shared mood boards, and options to block AI-generated content from feeds. To mark this phase, Cosmos commissioned a short film titled 'Your space to dream. (feat. Odessa A’zion)' directed by Aidan Cullen and starring actor Odessa A’zion. McCune explained that the platform addresses frustrations among creatives about losing context and attribution for saved images online. He described Cosmos as drawing inspiration from early internet platforms like Tumblr and Pinterest while adding structure to maintain origin information. The platform uses AI not to generate content but to research image origins and provide context, with user controls to filter AI imagery. McCune emphasized that Cosmos aims to rebuild a system where creators remain connected to their work and where visual discovery can lead to meaningful creative development.
