Cineteca Madrid and Matadero Madrid Present Summer Film Series 'Superestrellas 3'

Cineteca Madrid and Matadero Madrid are jointly presenting 'Superestrellas 3', a summer film and music series running from July 2 to 26, 2025, on Thursdays through Sundays at Plaza Matadero. The program features two cine-concerts, three live-commentated screenings, and eleven films spanning genres like queer musical, blaxploitation, and yeyé cinema. It opens with a cine-concert by Spanish indie musician Christina Rosenvinge, who will revisit her film work as an actress and soundtrack composer. The duo Hidrogenesse will close the audiovisual concerts with a tribute to cinema. Commentated screenings include a surprise session by Nacho Vigalondo, the 'Linterna XL' cycle with Brays Efe and Miguel Agnes, and an analysis of 'The Witches of Eastwick' by Alberto Rey. Film highlights include 'Coffy' (1973) by Jack Hill starring Pam Grier, 'Bixa Travesty' (2018) profiling Brazilian artist Linn da Quebrada, the Afrofuturist 'Neptune Frost' (2021), blaxploitation classic 'Super Fly' (1972) with a soundtrack by Curtis Mayfield, and 'And Then We Danced' (2019) by Levan Akin. Screenings are in original language with Spanish subtitles, starting at 22:15 (except 'Linterna XL' at 21:30).
