CI Bloom 2026: Istanbul fair reduces fees, showcases Kurdish and Armenian art amid economic pressure
The fifth edition of Contemporary Istanbul's local-focused fair, CI Bloom 2026, commenced at Lütfi Kırdar Rumeli Hall in Istanbul, Türkiye, and will continue until 19 April. Spanning 2100 square meters, the event showcases 28 galleries and four art initiatives, with 24 of the galleries hailing from Istanbul. To aid galleries, participation fees were reduced by 30% and fixed in Turkish lira, a move termed a "solidarity decision" by Director Ali Güreli. Curator Marcus Graf highlighted that the fair mirrors the Turkish art landscape. Among the emerging galleries are Kun Art Space and Kurdish-owned Loading Art Space. Featured artworks include Murat Palta's pieces at x-ist and Osman Dinç's sculptures at Pi Artworks, underscoring local ecosystem development amidst economic challenges.
