Chengdu Qiongjie Yingchuang Culture and Entertainment, a firm specializing in immersive imaging from China, recorded a groundbreaking rocket launch in the Gobi Desert utilizing Blackmagic Design's Ursa Cine Immersive camera. The crew, consisting of Tang Yisu, Gan Yujie, and Lu Linxuan, captured the launch of LandSpace's reusable Zhuque-3 rocket at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. Titled "Land Your Dream in Space: Zhuque-3 Launch Vehicle Flight Test Mission," this project is thought to be the first Apple Immersive Video documenting a rocket launch. The event took place late last year, with the footage edited in DaVinci Resolve Studio for Apple Vision Pro. Tang Yisi remarked that traditional video fails to replicate the authentic launch experience. The Ursa Cine Immersive features an 8,160 x 7,200 resolution per eye and a 180-degree field of view at 90 fps. Lu Linxuan likened immersive video to theater, inviting the audience onto the stage. The team employed static tripod shots, as typical 2D cinematography techniques were deemed inadequate for immersive filming. The camera's robust design withstood the Gobi Desert's challenging conditions, including dust and extreme temperatures, underscoring the expanding possibilities of immersive filmmaking for documentaries and experiential content.
