Chaka Khan and Simple Minds to Headline Radio 2 in the Park in Stirling

This year's Radio 2 in the Park festival in Stirling, Scotland, will feature Chaka Khan and Simple Minds as the main acts. Scheduled for September 11 to 13 at City Park, this marks the BBC's first significant music event in Scotland in three years. A DJ party on Friday night will include performances by Radio 2 presenters such as Sara Cox, DJ Spoony, Gary Davies, Michelle Visage, and Rylan. The main stage on Saturday will showcase The Script, ABC, Emeli Sandé, Jack Savoretti, Lulu, and Texas, culminating in Chaka Khan's performance. Sunday will see Deacon Blue, Level 42, James Blunt, Cast, Blue, and Appleton, with Simple Minds closing the festival. All acts will be streamed on Radio 2, BBC Sounds, and iPlayer. Khan referred to Stirling as a "magical place," eager to create unforgettable moments. Jim Kerr of Simple Minds mentioned that this festival precedes their 50th anniversary next year and will be their sole UK performance in 2025. Vernon Kay anticipates a "massive weekend of world-class artists," while Jeff Smith, Radio 2's head of music, emphasized the honor of featuring international talent in Stirling. Previous festivals occurred in Leicester, Preston, and Chelmsford after relocating from London's Hyde Park in 2022. City Park hosted the Stirling Summer Sessions in 2024, featuring Tom Jones, Young Fathers, and Shania Twain. Tickets will be available starting June 10 at 08:30, priced from £40 for Friday and £84 for Saturday/Sunday.
