The 74th Cannes Film Festival will take place from July 6 to 17, 2021, after a one-year hiatus due to the pandemic. President Pierre Lescure and General Delegate Thierry Frémaux announced a program of 61 titles, with a strong presence of French cinema and highly anticipated films such as Wes Anderson's The French Dispatch, François Ozon's Tout s'est bien passé, Asghar Farhadi's A Hero, and Jacques Audiard's Les Olympiades. Nanni Moretti's Tre piani, based on Eshkol Nevo's novel, is confirmed in competition, with an Italian release set for September 23 via 01Distribution. Jodie Foster will receive an honorary Palme d'Or during the opening ceremony, where Leos Carax's Annette will be presented. The festival will proceed with full attendance and no social distancing in theaters, though masks are mandatory. France's vaccination rate at the time is only 30%, raising concerns among attendees.
