ByteDance Enhances Seedance 2.0 with Content Protection Measures Before Worldwide Launch

ByteDance, the company behind TikTok, is implementing new security features for its Seedance 2.0 platform as it prepares for international expansion. This move follows criticism from Hollywood studios regarding potential intellectual property violations after AI-generated videos featuring recognizable actors and characters gained popularity in February. The updated system incorporates C2PA watermarking technology, enabling ByteDance to track content created with its model and address misuse even when shared outside their platform. Additionally, the company will actively monitor for IP infringements. C2PA, established in 2021 with support from major tech firms like Microsoft, Google, and Adobe, sets standards for digital content transparency through watermarking. ByteDance previously adopted C2PA for labeling AI content on TikTok in 2024, making it the first video platform to do so. The global rollout of Seedance 2.0 occurs amidst ongoing scrutiny from entertainment industry stakeholders concerned about unauthorized use of copyrighted material.
