British Art Fair Opens at Saatchi Gallery with Hockney Tribute and 70-Plus Galleries
From 24 to 27 September, the Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea will host the British Art Fair, featuring over 70 galleries and a special exhibition of 12 works by David Hockney, curated by Eleanor Ekserdijan. Founded in 1988 by Gay Hutson and Angela "Bunny" Wynn (who passed away in 2018), Hutson continues to direct the fair despite changes in ownership; it was sold to Robert and Johnny Sandelson in 2018 and later acquired by Ramsay Fairs in 2022. Originally launched at The Cumberland Hotel, the fair relocated to the Royal College of Art in 1991 and then to Saatchi Gallery post-sale. Prices for artworks range from £1,000 to £100,000, with notable sales including a £300,000 Henry Moore and a £90,000 Stanley Spencer.
