Berliner Festspiele: Ringbahn-Touren zeigen unverwirklichte Utopien

In celebration of its 75th anniversary, the Berliner Festspiele has introduced "What If Berlin?" along the Ringbahn, curated by Akira Takayama. This initiative showcases 27 unrealized artistic concepts at S-Bahn stations, with city guides leading tours over four weekends until September 20. The project taps into various archives, highlighting significant proposals such as Martin Mlecko's 1986 poster campaign at Hermannstraße and the 1984 "Ikarusflug" design by Christian Enzmann and Bernd Ettel for Bersarinplatz. Themed tours, including "Dürfen Kommunisten träumen?" and "Was baut man auf Ruinen?" are part of the experience. Established from the 1951 Berliner Festwochen, the Berliner Festspiele organizes events like Theatertreffen and Berlinale. Director Matthias Pees noted its historical significance during a press conference regarding the Cold War.
