Belvedere Presents 3D Models of Messerschmidt's Character Heads

On July 1, 2026, the Belvedere in Vienna will host an online event titled 'Die Gute Stunde. Auf den Kopf gestellt. Franz Xaver Messerschmidt.' The session focuses on the so-called 'Kopfstücke' (character heads) by 18th-century sculptor Franz Xaver Messerschmidt (1736–1783). The museum's digital collection now offers high-resolution 3D models that allow viewers to examine the works from all angles and even see inside them. Art educators Eva Mühlbacher and Philipp Reichel-Neuwirth will provide new perspectives on these studies of exaggerated human facial expressions. The event is part of 'Die Gute Stunde,' a nonprofit initiative by humaQ gGmbH based in Wiesbaden, which since 2021 has offered interactive online cultural events for older adults, with over 160 high-quality programs to date.
