Basel Social Club returns with 200+ artists in former UBS training centre

The fifth edition of Basel Social Club (BSC) has taken over a former UBS training centre in Basel, featuring works by over 200 artists across 30 non-profit spaces. Co-founder Yael Salomonowitz emphasizes the platform's focus on an experience economy while keeping art central. Among participants is Or Associations, a new itinerant non-profit artist association co-founded by Gaby Sahhar, which retains 50% of sale proceeds to fund members' practices. Sahhar describes it as a way to reclaim agency in a volatile market. Founding members Dorota Gawęda and Eglė Kulbokaitė, who show with Amanda Wilkinson Gallery and Thaddaeus Ropac, see no conflict with existing gallery representation. Or Associations plans a two-year pilot with solo and group exhibitions. The event also features experimental works exploring office life, including microwaved lunches and cosmetic injections, alongside DJ sets and exercise classes. Basel Social Club runs until 20 June at Erdbeergraben 1.
