Avignon Festival 80th Edition: 'Vive le sujet!' Series 1 Features Zoé Lakhnati and Nicole Genovese
The 80th Festival d'Avignon, in partnership with SACD, showcases 'Vive le sujet ! – Tentatives' at the Jardin de la Vierge of Lycée Saint-Joseph. This event includes two distinct performances. In 'Claudia the Virgin,' directed by Zoé Lakhnati, multi-award-winning bodybuilder Claudia Atletica navigates a hyper-secure environment, with Lakhnati portraying a guard. The presence of exaggerated gold sculptures blurs the lines between observer and observed. Lakhnati, a graduate of Conservatoire de Lyon and PARTS, delivers a nuanced message, stating, 'Danger is no longer the fall, but attachment.' The second piece, created by Nicole Genovese, is a playful tale centered on a postal franking machine, exploring its significance within a post office, enhanced by humor from Sébastien Chassagne and magician Quoc Tien Tran.
