Australian Museum's FrogID App Adds Feature to Record Absence of Frog Calls for Scientific Research

The Australian Museum has updated its FrogID citizen science application to allow users to submit 'absence' or 'null' records when no frog calls are detected. This enhancement, led by Dr. Jodi Rowley and Nadiah Roslan, improves the dataset's scientific value by providing true absence data alongside existing presence records. Previously, researchers relied on inferred absences from presence-only data. The new feature enables more accurate analysis of frog distributions and conservation needs across Australia. Users are advised to submit null records only in suitable habitats where frogs might be expected.
