France, Germany, the UK, Italy, and host Austria are automatically qualified. The event faced boycott calls from over a thousand artists due to Israel's participation amid the Gaza war. Slovenia, Spain, Ireland, Iceland, and the Netherlands are not participating, though Iceland and the Netherlands are broadcasting. A pre-recorded segment by ORF addressed LGBT+ representation, with host Victoria Swarovski noting only eight winners out of 70 have identified as LGBT+. Eurovision director Martin Green called the segment 'a message to the world.'
