Atmos Weather App Launches for Photographers

Matthew Raifman has introduced Atmos for Weather & Photo (Atmos), an iPhone application tailored for photographers. This app integrates information from various sources, such as sun position, wind, tides, cloud types, and moon phases, into one user-friendly platform. It features a scoring system that translates raw weather conditions into a "shootability" rating for sunrise, sunset, and nighttime photography. Atmos evaluates clouds across three altitude levels, monitors the "horizon gap" for ideal sunset images, and retrieves real-time space weather data from NOAA (Kp index, solar wind, magnetic field) to aid in aurora predictions. The app independently rates 12 photography categories, including wildlife, macro, long exposure, Milky Way, and infrared.
