Astronaut Photos Turned Into 4K Aurora Timelapse by Seán Doran
Filmmaker Seán Doran has created a 4K timelapse of aurora lights using 5,234 images taken by astronauts Sophie Adenot and Jessica Meir aboard the International Space Station. The footage, captured by French astronaut Adenot on Day 139 of her mission during orbit 2155, shows green aurora dancing over Earth. Doran repaired, remastered, and retimed the images, generating 33,946 additional frames via frame interpolation to produce smooth 4x real-time video. He manually corrected artifacts like hot pixels, dust, and micro-meteor damage, and applied denoising, exposure correction, and color grading. The final video is best viewed on a large screen with good sound.
