Art Basel Unlimited 2026: Monumental Works Spanning a Century
The Unlimited section of Art Basel 2026 features 59 large-scale works curated by Ruba Katrib, chief curator and director of curatorial affairs at MoMA PS1. Highlights include L.A.P.D. Uniforms (1993), a response to the Rodney King beating; Thomas Ruff's The September 11th Photographs (2004-07); Niki de Saint Phalle's Blue Obelisk with Flowers (1992), addressing the HIV/AIDS crisis; Alfredo Jaar's The Power of Words (1984/2021); Peter Hujar's The Gracie Mansion Show (1974-85); Eduardo Arroyo's La Ronde de nuit aux gourdins (1975-76), a reimagining of Rembrandt; and Oskar Schlemmer's Homo, Composition in Metal (1930-31). The floorplan is choreographed to create dialogues between works.
