Arri Launches Film Lab 1.5 Plugin With 8mm, 16mm and 65mm Analog Formats

digital · 2026-10-13

Arri has unveiled Film Lab 1.5, an enhanced version of its OpenFX plugin for video editing and color grading, one year following its initial release. This update introduces formats such as 8mm, 16mm, and 65mm, along with new features like Grain Size and Rendition of Detail parameters. Users will find an Anamorphic Ratio control that includes eight squeeze ratios ranging from 1.25x to 2x, and a Halation Spread control that modifies the glow around highlights. In response to user feedback, Arri has raised the maximum limits for Grain Intensity and Halation Intensity. Performance enhancements mean Film Lab 1.5 operates up to four times faster, enabling real-time 4K playback, particularly on Apple Silicon Macs. It now supports ACES 2.0 options and is available at no additional cost for current users. New users can acquire it for approximately $25 monthly or less than $500 for a lifetime license.
