Apple Releases Final Cut Camera 2.3 With Expanded ProRes and Variable Aperture Support

digital · 2026-09-29

Apple has unveiled Final Cut Camera version 2.3, a complimentary update for the iPhone 18 Pro series, which introduces variable aperture control, an updated interface, and improved recording features. Users can now manually adjust white balance in Kelvin and choose aperture priority. The app also offers a histogram, false color, and clipping indicators, along with the ability to apply cinematic mode to previously recorded footage. Clean HDMI output is compatible with the iPhone 17 Pro. New recording formats include ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 422, and ProRes 422 LT. Users can disable digital zoom, and USB-C file sharing has been enhanced for importing media into Final Cut Pro. Customizable overlays and simplified settings access are additional features, though it does not support Apple's new tracking autofocus. Final Cut Camera 2.3 is available starting today.
