Apple iPhone Duo: First Foldable iPhone Unveiled at September Event

During its annual September Event, Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo, its inaugural folding smartphone, along with the iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 12, Ultra 4, AirPods 5, and iOS 27. This occasion also saw John Ternus take over as CEO from Tim Cook. Ternus described the Duo as having a larger display that mimics the feel of an iPad, clarifying it is not simply "two phones stuck together." The Duo boasts a 7.6-inch inner screen and a 5.4-inch outer display, both maintaining a uniform aspect ratio. It features a concealed FaceTime camera, a sophisticated hinge with magnets, and a mirror-polished titanium frame available in Star White or Night Sky. Starting at $1,999 for 256GB and reaching $3,199 for 2TB, pre-orders will commence on October 16. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are equipped with the A20 Pro chip, enhanced cameras with aperture control and a physical shutter, and new Apple Intelligence capabilities, including Apple Reference Image for photo verification. The Apple Watch Series 12 introduces Audio Intelligence features like Live Rewind and Siri Recap, utilizing new finishes and recycled materials. AirPods 5 enhance noise cancellation and Siri AI integration. This event underscored Apple's foray into the foldable market, positioning itself against competitors like Samsung and Xiaomi, while also advancing in AI and camera technology.
