Antike in Basel aligns with Art Basel for 10th edition

The Antike in Basel fair, traditionally held in November, moves to June for its 10th edition to coincide with Art Basel. Hosted at Galerie Cahn in Basel, the event gathers around thirty international dealers showcasing antiquities from Prehistory to non-European arts. Highlights include a Heracles statuette (2nd-3rd centuries BC) from Plektron Fine Arts with a 1960s restoration attributed to Claude de Muzac, an Egyptian pyramidion of high priest Pakharu from Galerie Eberwein (formerly at Christie's New York in 1990), an oinochoe in the form of a Pan bust from Jürgen Haering, and an Apulian calyx krater depicting the abduction of Dionysus from Günter Puhze. Non-classical works include an Indonesian Tau-Tau head from Bigler Fine Arts and a ceremonial ladle from the Admiralty Islands, exhibited by Meyer Oceanic & Eskimo Art. Galerie Cahn presents a headless marble statue in the tradition of Polyclitus.
