Alibaba's HappyHorse AI video model surpasses ByteDance's Seedance 2.0 in global rankings

The HappyHorse 1.0 model from Alibaba Group Holding has been recognized as the premier artificial intelligence video tool globally, outpacing ByteDance's Seedance 2.0, as per evaluations by consultancy Artificial Analysis. This model excelled in both text-to-video and image-to-video categories. HappyHorse, developed by the Innovation Business Unit within Alibaba's newly established Alibaba Token Hub group, is currently undergoing internal beta testing, with further product releases anticipated. Zhang Di, who returned to Alibaba in November after a five-year hiatus, spearheaded the project. The benchmarking system utilizes a rating approach that assesses performance through direct comparisons, with scores reflecting human preferences and dynamically adjusted based on relative performance. HappyHorse has also surpassed Kuaishou's Kling AI tools, previously among the top video models. This development highlights the growing competition for AI talent in China as the market expands. A spokeswoman for Alibaba Token Hub confirmed these details to the South China Morning Post on Friday, which is owned by Alibaba.
