Aix-en-Provence Easter Festival and Spanish Ballet's Afanador Highlight Cultural Calendar

The Easter Festival in Aix-en-Provence runs from March 28 to April 12, featuring classical music performances across multiple venues including the Grand Théâtre de Provence. The event involves 900 performers, 21 major concerts, and approximately 100 free activities throughout the city. Notable participants include the Munich Philharmonic as resident orchestra, the Zurich Opera Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège, with violinist Renaud Capuçon conducting the Lille National Orchestra to open the festival. American soprano Nadine Sierra is among the featured soloists. Separately, Spain's National Ballet presents Afanador at Paris's Théâtre du Châtelet until April 2. Directed by Rubén Olmo and choreographed by Marcos Mauro, the production reinterprets flamenco traditions through inspiration from photographer Ruvén Afanador's stylized imagery, blending classical elements with contemporary queer aesthetics.
