ADHD support objects and forest-inspired installation at New Designers 2026

The UK's most established graduate design showcase, New Designers, returns in 2026 from 1 to 4 July, featuring homeware objects crafted from glass and wood designed to assist people with ADHD. Among the highlights is Sōma by Jamie Scott, a collection of three handheld objects—rest, rhythm, and release—that offer warmth, bilateral movement, or resistance to support emotional regulation in adults with ADHD. Turned from solid oak on a glass base, they are meant for home use. Also included is an interactive light installation by Oscar Nicol-Schwarz, consisting of 10 kinetic pendulum lights that undulate when audience members approach, mimicking forest rhythms. Other projects include a textiles collection using flax fibres by Honey Hughes, a low-tech product to curb smartphone use by Harry Demetriou, and a brooch exploring Greek mythology by Anna Malekou. The event unites graduates from across the UK in a single showcase, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of contemporary design.
