Action Camera retailer targeted by TikTok scam using fake website and influencers

A deceptive website, cucciseru.com, is posing as Action Camera, a small retailer with locations in California and Nevada, to defraud customers. The site features Action Camera's authentic logo and advertises cameras at shockingly low prices, such as a Ricoh GR IV for $32.45 and a Leica Q3 43 for $55.90. Brian White, the manager of Action Camera's Reno store, discovered the scam when a customer asked about a Canon PowerShot SX740 listed at $73.59. The scam is promoted via TikTok links, showcasing a camera store interface on mobile devices, featuring 54 models from brands like Canon and Leica. Nearly 80 TikTok influencers have shared videos endorsing the fraudulent site. White stresses the importance of recognizing warning signs, such as unrealistic pricing and unavailable color options. This situation echoes a similar scam from last summer involving fake Leica Store websites. The domain cucciseru.com is registered anonymously through Dynadot Privacy Service. With over 40 years in business, Action Camera conducts classes and outreach while shipping nationwide, but White prioritizes consumer safety. He recommends that shoppers check with local retailers or reputable stores like B&H and confirm prices with manufacturers.
