8 Standout Design Objects at MAZE/Design Basel 2026
From June 14 to 18, 2026, the collectible design fair MAZE/Design Basel made its return to the Offene Kirche Elisabethen for its second edition, titled “Holy Grounds for Collectible Design.” The event expanded into a neighboring pavilion, featuring distinctive pieces and limited editions. Founder Thomas Hug remarked that this church was the initial site for Design Miami/Basel in 2006, and following its conclusion in 2024, a new chapter began. Noteworthy exhibits included Charlotte Perriand's 1952 Tunisie Bookcase, crafted from pine, mahogany, and painted aluminum, along with metalwork by Les Ateliers Jean Prouvé and colors by Sonia Delaunay. Other highlights were Tom Dixon's Bird Chaise Longue (ca. 1997), Lea Colombo's Red Jasper Dining Table (2026), and Birger Kaipiainen's ceramic piece (c. 1950s).
