41st Cinema Jove Festival: Valencia's Future of Film

The 41st edition of Cinema Jove, directed by María Albiñana and organized by the Institut Valencià de Cultura, will take place in Valencia from June 19 to 27. The festival's international competition features nine feature films from the US, Sweden, Germany, France, Afghanistan, Taiwan, China, Malta, and Qatar, previously shown at Sundance, Berlinale, Rotterdam, and CPH:DOX. Highlights include 'The Patron' by Julia Thelin, 'Chronovisor', 'No Good Men' by Shahrbanoo Sadat, and 'Zejtune' by Alex Camilleri. A retrospective at the Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània honors Greta Gerwig, screening 'Hannah Takes the Stairs', 'Nights and Weekends', 'Frances Ha', 'Lady Bird', 'Little Women', and 'Barbie', ending with a surprise public vote. New initiatives include Cinema Jove Kids (with Premiers Plans d’Angers) and Cinema Jove Meets networking. Valencian filmmaker Joecar Hanna presents his short 'Talk Me', produced by Spike Lee, which premiered at Cannes, Toronto, and Málaga.
