3 Days of Design Opens in Copenhagen with Nordic Brands and Fresh Takes
Copenhagen has kicked off 3 Days of Design, the largest design event in Scandinavia, showcasing numerous brand launches and installations. Several Nordic brands are opting to showcase their work here instead of at Milan Design Week. At Postbyen, curator Marie-Louise Høstbo presents an exhibition featuring Frederik Gustav and Anna Søgaard, focusing on how objects influence spaces and emotions. Wataru Kumano displays hinoki wood chairs for Mas, in collaboration with Karimoku, as part of the Japanmade Vol 1 exhibit curated by Jens H Jensen and OEO Studio, which includes Naowashi, New Light Pottery, Sekisaka, and Sheep. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Muuto's CMO Line Brockmann Juhl remarks on a growing appreciation for physical spaces amid digital expansion. Karakter's COO Kim Mekawi notes a cross-influence between Danish and Italian design, with Danish styles becoming bolder and Italians favoring lighter woods like ash. At the fair, Karakter collaborates with Cassina. Form & Refine, established in 2018, reports a 30% growth by crafting furniture using local materials and artisans. Curated by Silas Adler, Other Circle features over 50 exhibitors at The Lab without a specific theme. The show Working Matter by 3XN GXN, curated by Magdelis Santos and Marie Hesseldahl, emphasizes the design process as equally important as the final product.
