Rome celebrates the Forma 1 group with an exhibition at the Lombardi Gallery

The Lombardi Gallery in Rome hosts the exhibition 'Materic and Informal Divagations', dedicated to the Forma 1 group more than seventy years after their founding. The group debuted in March 1947 by publishing a single issue of the magazine 'Forma' in Rome, proposing a language of mediation between Abstractionism and Realism. Curator Guglielmo Gigliotti, in the catalog, describes the style of the members: Accardi and Sanfilippo invented arcane writings with sign alphabets; Dorazio wove rigid graphic and chromatic meshes; Perilli created constructive labyrinths with perspective contradictions, defining his images as 'mad'; Turcato played with lines, points, and material masses without rules, in a battle for freedom. The exhibition celebrates the genius and freedom of these artists.
