Mario Pieroni passed away on 17 October 2026 at the age of 89, marking the end of a remarkable career spanning more than fifty years in the realm of Italian contemporary art. He initiated his journey in 1970 in Pescara, collaborating with his family's business and inviting artists for the Dal mondo delle idee project. In 1975, he established Galleria Pieroni in Pescara, where he presented Luciano Fabro's Allestimento teatrale. After meeting sociologist Dora Stiefelmeier in 1977, he moved the gallery to Rome in January 1979, showcasing works by Gino De Dominicis and others. The gallery closed in 1992 after hosting over sixty exhibitions. In 1991, he founded Zerynthia, and Atelier nel bosco ran from 1997 to 2002. RAM was created in 2003, followed by SAM in 2004, and No Man's Land opened in 2016 in Abruzzo.
