Francesca Lolli's "Una Tristezza" Premieres at Cinema Mexico with Live Performance by Detained Performers
Francesca Lolli's experimental short film "Una Tristezza" will be showcased on Monday, 26 October at 9pm at Milan's Cinema Mexico, as part of the Mexico e Briciole series. The screening will be preceded by a live performance from inmates at the II Casa di Reclusione di Milano-Bollate. Created between 2025 and 2026, the film features professional actress Benedetta Cesqui and delves into themes of identity through movement and spatial awareness, steering clear of traditional prison narratives by concentrating on shared internal experiences. The 13-minute and 48-second film combines black-and-white scenes with color, culminating in a female figure procession. Following the screening, there will be a discussion with curator Nathan De Paz Habib and critics. Tickets cost 8 euros, with reservations available at 02 4895 1802.
