Damien Hirst collaborates with Scottish cashmere house Barrie on 100-piece limited edition capsule collection

other · 2026-10-05

Damien Hirst has partnered with Barrie, the Scottish cashmere maison founded in 1903, on a capsule collection of 100 numbered, limited-edition pieces. The garments carry motifs long associated with Hirst's visual language, including his spot paintings and butterflies, alongside colour and pattern combinations that position everyday clothing between fashion and contemporary art. The collaboration grew out of a personal relationship with the brand: Hirst said he has worn Barrie pieces for years and values their quality and craftsmanship, and that this guided a project aimed at working within the codes and functionality of clothing rather than simply printing an artist's image on a product. The collection shifts Hirst's imagery onto sweaters, coats and accessories, moving the work out of the protected space of museum and gallery and back into daily life. Hirst's fashion and commercial collaborations include a project with Alexander McQueen, skull-motif scarves, a 2025 collaboration with Supreme, and a recent intervention on the labels of Dom Pérignon bottles. The Barrie capsule is presented as another chapter in his long exploration of making art something that can be seen, owned and, this time, worn.
