Cavalese Museum Launches 'Banner d'artista' Prize for Public Art Under-40 Artists
Directed by Elsa Barbieri, the Museo d'Arte Contemporanea di Cavalese has introduced the Banner d'artista prize aimed at weaving contemporary art into everyday experiences. This inaugural edition invites artists under the age of 40 to compete for the opportunity to create three vertical-format pieces, which will be showcased in 2027 at both Piazzetta Rizzoli and the museum's entrance. Building on earlier projects, the works will utilize materials sourced from local artisans in Cavalese's forests. The first exhibition cycle will commence on 20 January 2027, coinciding with San Sebastiano, and will continue until 18 July, followed by a second cycle from 24 July to 31 December. Applications must be submitted by 12:00 on 31 October 2026, with a €20 entry fee. Production costs for selected projects will be covered, and one banner from each artist will be added to the museum's collection.
