Zuzanna Czebatul and Mel Odom at Sans titre, Paris

The exhibition at Sans titre in Paris features the works of Zuzanna Czebatul and Mel Odom, focusing on themes of power aesthetics and image appropriation. Czebatul presents a series of three spinning bomber jackets titled Mission to protect and inspire heroism in all forms (2026), which draw inspiration from Matisse's La Danse, infusing it with necropolitical elements. The satin jackets are adorned with textile patchworks referencing war-themed artworks by Otto Dix, Tamara de Lempicka, Dürer, Michelangelo, Goya, Rubens, and Jean Cocteau. Another piece, Dominique (2026), depicts a muscular arm holding a hammer protruding from a wall. Odom's illustrations, created for publications like Viva and Playboy from the 1970s to the 1990s, celebrate queer desire amid the AIDS crisis. Czebatul’s In Every Dream Home a Heart Ache (2026) features shallow architectural reliefs showcasing replicas of cultural icons alongside Sandy Marshall (1999), a character from Odom's Gene Marshall doll series, representing personal loss.
