Zoé Bernardi: Giving an Image to Marginalized Peoples

Artist Zoé Bernardi (born 2000) presents her solo exhibition 'I wanna be loved by you' at Galerie Mennour in Paris, running from June 10 to July 25, 2026. Bernardi, who grew up in a small apartment in Paris's 5th arrondissement and attended the elite Lycée Henri-IV before studying at Beaux-Arts de Paris, uses photography and film to document marginalized bodies and her own family's intimate life. Her work includes portraits of queer, trans, disabled, and elderly individuals, as well as a film titled 'No more heroes' capturing her parents and grandmother in their social housing. The exhibition extends this focus to female identity construction, featuring self-portraits with her mother and grandmother, and a series on Marilyn Monroe and Hollywood icons that critiques male-dominated beauty standards. Bernardi also works with a community of trans and drag performers called Les Divas. Her practice is influenced by Nan Goldin and guided by her teacher Clément Cogitore. The show was prompted by her success at the 'Félicités' exhibition in 2025, where Mennour discovered her. Bernardi shoots on film to allow images time to develop, emphasizing a gentle, intimate approach.
