Zhipu AI Reports Strong Revenue Growth but Widening Losses in First Post-IPO Financial Results

market-auction · 2026-03-31

Zhipu AI, a Beijing-based artificial intelligence company, released its first financial report following its initial public offering. The company announced that its revenue increased by 131.9% year-over-year to 724.33 million yuan (approximately US$104.8 million) for the fiscal year ending December 2025. However, this revenue figure fell short of analyst expectations, which had projected 756 million yuan according to a Bloomberg survey. Concurrently, Zhipu AI's total losses expanded significantly by 59.5% to reach 4.72 billion yuan. The company attributed these increased losses primarily to substantial growth in research and development expenditures, which rose by 44.9% to 3.18 billion yuan. Adjusted net losses also grew by 29.1% to 3.18 billion yuan. During a post-earnings conference call, CEO Zhang Peng discussed the company's strategic transition from providing on-premises model deployment services to offering cloud-based solutions. He noted that many clients who initially utilized Zhipu's open-source models for local deployment are now increasingly adopting cloud-based API services. Zhipu AI holds the distinction of being the world's first foundational AI model startup to complete an initial public offering.
