ZAV Architects Extends Firouz Firouz Villa as Casa Gelareh Near Tehran

Casa Gelareh, a 200 m² residential project by ZAV Architects, converts an existing weekend villa on the outskirts of Tehran into a permanent residence. Rather than demolishing the original building, designed by Iranian architect Firouz Firouz, the practice expanded it to accommodate the year-round occupancy of its new owners, who enlarged the property by acquiring three adjacent orchard plots. The project is dated 2025. Mohamadreza Ghodousi, Fatemeh Rezaei, Golnaz Bahrami, Mahmoud Ganji and Mahdi Rabei led the team as principal architects. The design team comprised Sheila Ehsaei, Parisa Mohammadi, Mahsa Faal and Ali Chaichian, with Mohammad Ali Daneshi on the technical team. EOT served as general contractor. Electrical engineering and consulting was handled by Arash Babazadeh and Alireza Shadbakhsh, while Nima Shabani and Alireza Shadbakhsh covered mechanical engineering and consulting. Suppliers included Farzaneh Art Studio, Ceramic Manufacture, Martfard Design, and Custom Furniture & Decoration. Photography is by Parham Taghioff of the Persia Photography Center. The project falls under the houses category and was curated by Miwa Negoro.
