Zannier Île de Bendor: A Private Island Art Retreat on the French Riviera

The Zannier Île de Bendor, a luxurious 93-room neo-resort located on a private island near Bandol, France, has officially opened its doors. This establishment merges opulence with the artistic heritage of Paul Ricard, who acquired the 700-meter-long island in 1950, turning it into a sanctuary for artists including Salvador Dalí, Josephine Baker, and Jean-Paul Belmondo. Dalí’s artwork "Pêche au thon," which adorned the island for many years, now serves as inspiration for a signature cocktail. Spanning 17 acres, the resort offers three types of accommodations—Delos, Soukana, and traditional fishermen's houses—alongside multiple dining options, a wellness center, and various recreational facilities. The Village des Artistes features the Oraé Gallery, co-founded by Juliette Causil, showcasing over 300 artworks, including those by David Servan-Schreiber. The inaugural artist-in-residence, Croatian ceramicist Zeljana Vidovic, created "Dialogue with the Wind" from local materials. The Michelin-starred Le Grand Large restaurant, led by chef Lionel Lévy and young chef Lucas Antoniotti, incorporates wild flora like ciste marine into its dishes. Additionally, Ricard's sculptures, including a grand Neptune and an inscribed totem, remain on the island.
