Yuriko Takagi: First German Solo Show and Dior Book

Japanese photographer Yuriko Takagi (born 1951, Tokyo) is the subject of her first solo exhibition in Germany, "IN and OUT of MODE," at Johanna Breede Photokunst in Berlin through January 31, 2026. The show presents three series from 1992–1995 focusing on avant-garde designers Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto, and Comme des Garçons. Takagi, trained at Musashino Art University and Trent Polytechnic, worked as a designer in Europe before turning to photography in the 1980s. Her analog black-and-white work uses long exposures and blur to capture movement. Separately, her book "Dior by Yuriko Takagi" was published by Rizzoli in September 2025, featuring Dior's toiles photographed at 30 Avenue Montaigne and across Dior's archives. The book spans designers from Christian Dior to John Galliano, Raf Simons, and Maria Grazia Chiuri. Fashion historian Olivier Saillard describes the toiles as "ghosts and specters."
