Yinghan Qian's Philosophical Fashion Label Lacrynette Blends Zen Concepts with Wearable Art

Fashion designer Yinghan Qian, originally from China and now based in the US, has established her label Lacrynette, which integrates Zen Buddhist philosophy into conceptual clothing. Her educational background includes degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Fashion Institute of Technology, and Parsons School of Design. In 2025, she launched her first capsule collection 'A Toy, A Spell,' exploring childhood memories through geometric shapes inspired by origami and paper dolls, which debuted at Ovary Space in Shanghai. Qian's work has earned recognition, including Gold Awards at the French Design Awards and American Good Design in 2025 for pieces like 'Spatial Anchor Point.' Her designs, such as the 'XIANG' collection, draw from Buddhist rituals and digital elements, while 'Dissonant Chord' reflects on human vulnerability post-accident. Her creations have been featured in publications like Harper's Bazaar China, ELLE China, and SICKY Magazine, and exhibited in venues including Purist Gallery London and Not Year Art Runway in New York.
