Yerko Zlatar and Cristhian Ávila Install Sound Works at Museo de Sitio Pucllana for Videoakt Biennial

exhibition · 2026-09-12

At the Museo de Sitio Pucllana in Lima, Peruvian artists Yerko Zlatar and Cristhian Ávila have unveiled sound-oriented installations for the Videoakt biennial. Zlatar's piece, 'Dispositivos de conexión,' comprises five sculptures crafted from styrofoam molds of modern technologies, encouraging engagement through quartz, drumsticks, or stones, and producing diverse sounds. Meanwhile, Ávila's 'El Eterno Retorno' on the fifth platform creates whistles that increase in volume as people draw near, featuring 3D-printed antaras and pre-Columbian whistles linked to a suitcase that supplies air. The exhibits will be accessible on August 22 and 23, followed by a discussion at the Ministerio de Cultura on August 26 at 7:00 pm. The museum sees around 600 visitors each day, supporting contemporary art.
