Yemail Arquitectura Designs Urban Gardens for Elderly in Bogotá

Yemail Arquitectura, led by Antonio Yemail, Natalia Carrero, and Sebastián Torres, has completed the Huertas Urbanas Help Age project in Bogotá, Colombia, in 2025. The 362 m² urban garden, curated by Valentina Díaz, is designed to support elderly communities through sustainable agriculture. The project emphasizes not only physical design but also the provision of basic gardening tools—such as wheelbarrows, pruners, and trowels—to foster autonomy and long-term care. Technical support was provided by HelpAge International, with project coordination by Diego Collazos, technical specialist Sion Jones, project officer Daniela Vásquez, agroecology specialist Andrea Fajardo, and communications lead Nelson Tamayo. Photographs were taken by Bé estudio, Paola Pabón, and Santiago Beaumé. The initiative falls under urban design and aims to strengthen community resilience.
