Yanqian Trail: Ecological Footpath on Xianggang Mountain
VCD Lab has designed the Yanqian Trail, an ecological footpath on Xianggang Mountain in Yanqian Village, Zhaoqing, China. Spanning 1,310 meters, the trail is built on stilts to minimize environmental impact, protecting native vegetation and animal habitats. The Cloud Walk section meanders like a ribbon along the slopes, using a pure steel framework that elevates walkers for poetic views. The project covers 71,200 m² and is set for completion in 2026. Lead architects Lin Yingjie and Zhang Yuanyuan collaborated with Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design Institute and Verge Creative Design. The client is Zhaoqing City Duanzhou District Project Construction Management Center. The trail sits opposite the Qixingyan Scenic Area, a National 5A-rated tourist attraction, showcasing harmony between human activity and nature.
